SUNSHINE 1 SUNSHINE 2
Who’s in our team?

Who’s in our team?

Beautifully British:

In Autumn Term, Sunshine classes will be exploring all things British. The children will explore the British Isles and it’s capital cities.  Later, we will look at the lives of soldiers in the past. They will  focus on their fieldwork and observational skills as they study the geography of the UK, including maps and directions.

Learning Logs

At the beginning of each term, a list of objectives and activities will be placed into the children’s learning log.

Please choose one task to complete each week. There are more objectives than the number of weeks so you have a wide range of activities and subject areas to choose from.  If you would like to support your children at home, these objectives have been provided for that purpose but there is certainly no pressure to complete them all. The objectives are linked to the work covered in class during the term. Please send your child’s ‘Learning Log’ into school when they have completed a piece of work and we will return it with feedback.

Forest School

  • Forest School will be on Fridays for both Sunshine 1 and Sunshine 2.

We are lucky enough that this year we are able to offer Forest School sessions all year round. Mrs Way will be teaching forest school to both classes every Friday.  Please ensure your child wears suitable clothing, we will be outside in all weathers, (except high winds or thunder).

This year, we are asking all children to come into school wearing appropriate outdoor clothing on their allocated Forest School day, which they will wear all day at school. Children need to wear long trousers and a long-sleeved top to protect from scratches etc; navy joggers and a school hoodie are suggested.
When the weather is wet and cold, children will need to wear several layers, including waterproof jacket and trousers. If their Forest School session is in the afternoon, they can bring their waterproofs in a bag to put on before going out into the forest.

We do lots of outdoor activities throughout the year so please provide your child with a pair of named wellies which we will keep outside of the classroom on our welly rack for easy access.

PE

  • PE days for both classes will be on a Monday and Thursday.

On PE days, your child will be required to come to school in their PE kit and wear it for the day.  We will go outside for PE when the weather permits so please ensure your child wears a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt / fleece in a dark colour for the colder weather.

Reading

Bookbags will need to be brought into school daily and we will change the children’s book twice a week.
