PSHE and Relationships Education at Haddenham St Mary’s

Our whole-school PSHE curriculum supports children’s personal, social, and emotional development through three key themes: Happy and Healthy, Me and You, and Out in the World.

Using PSHE Association resources, our sequenced and age-appropriate curriculum includes Relationships Education, which focuses on wellbeing, friendships, respect, and belonging. While we do not teach Sex Education, our approach fosters empathy, self-respect, and inclusive values. We also prioritise mental health and wellbeing with a whole-school ethos that supports pupils, staff, and families.

Wellbeing and Support Resources for Children and Families

At Haddenham St Mary’s, we offer a range of emotional wellbeing resources to support children and families. From BBC Education learning tools and Every Mind Matters mental health advice to confidential support services like SHOUT and Childline, help is always available. We also offer practical tools for managing anxiety and worry, including mindfulness strategies and support guides.

In school, we run Nurture Groups and targeted Wellbeing and Lego Therapy sessions, tailored to pupils’ evolving emotional needs and delivered by trained staff to promote resilience, self-awareness, and confidence.
